Our schedule and assignment
It was announced to the congregation on Sunday morning that my service at Cornerstone will be complete at the end of June. The Church Council has very graciously extended paid leave for July, August, and September so that I can prepare for and make the transition to Guam. During the summer we'll be working on selling the house, raising money, and lesson plans.
I also found out last week that I will be teaching Christian formation and preaching classes during the Fall Semester -- both exciting ways to get started. I am a bit intimidated by the preaching assignment because I'm not familiar enough with the various cultures that the students come from to do more than offer principles. As I see it, my task will be to facilitate things so they can teach each other. They will know a whole lot more than I about style and approach to communicating God's Word on their islands. So it is a bit of a challenge. That's good and I'm looking forward to the relationships.
I will also be helping Dave Owen with a class that he is teaching about cults. As we inch toward creating distance education opportunities we're going to teach a few classes as hybrids. That is, they will be regular on campus "seat time" classes with an online component. I will be designing that component. At least that is what it's looking like at this point.
