We've been approved!
Cheryl and I met with the World Mission Board on Saturday and they recommended to the Executive Board of the Covenant that we be approved as project missionaries to serBrad & Cheryl with Latte Stoneve in Micronesia. Yesterday, the Executive Board approved the recommendation.

This means that we can now actually start the process of raising the funds for serving as Covenant missionaries in partnership with Pacific Islands Bible College. We're trusting that we will have enough money/commitments so that we can make the move to Guam at the end of this summer and be available for service starting in the Fall semester.

Project missionaries are required to have money/commitments covering 2 years worth of expenses before they are allowed to go. We are actually in pretty good shape because we are expecting to self-fund 30-50% of this project (depending on the sale of our house). Still, we have to raise over $100,000 in additional commitments or gifts in four months if we are going to follow the schedule that appears to be the healthiest for Cornerstone, the school, and ourselves. People who have done this before say that this is a tall order.

So, please pray for us -- that we'll not be anxious over all the details and that we will be wise in how we go about approaching individuals and churches -- and juggling my current responsibilities as pastor of Cornerstone Covenant Church -- and wrapping up my role as president of the Covenant Ministerium (my term is up in June).

Details of the project -- which I believe is going to lead to new connections for ministry and growth in the church -- as well as the development of new leaders -- can be found on at Guam.Boydston.us.

There is a downloadable response form (.pdf) if you or your congregation feels led to participate in this new thing that God is doing. I'd be happy to meet face-to-face with congregations or committees or groups or individuals who might want to hear all about it.

God is good!
