A few days ago Joshua Jones, the community college student that we've hired to help us with computer issues for about 10 hours each week, came into the office wearing a CHIC 2003 t-shirt.
"That's an interesting shirt, Josh, tell me about it," I said to him.
"CHIC stands for Covenant High Congress," he replied. "When I was visiting my cousins in Duluth in 2003 there was a cancellation at the last minute of someone from their church, First Covenant Church, who was supposed to go so I ended up going instead."
I then explained to him that we're from the Covenant Church and that our son and daughter were at the same CHIC.
Small world.
I thought that it was interesting that he identified CHIC as "Covenant High Congress." That's what it had been called in the early ears of the event. And that's what it was called when I went to CHIC in 1972. But more recently it has stood for "Covenant High in Christ." Some names have a lot of stickiness to them.
